Returning to Dutch Flats, a photo was taken with the entire Ryan team lined up in front of the silver aircraft they had worked so hard to build. With the tests completed, the Spirit had proven it was ready to make the journey for which it had been created.
In 1928, the beautiful aircraft that Lindbergh, Hall, and the Ryan team had worked so hard to build was donated to the Smithsonian Institution. It was put on permanent display in Washington, D.C., joining another famous aircraft, the Kitty Hawk bi-plane built by Orville and Wilbur Wright.
